Metzena Rose Carter

October 30, 1940 - April 18, 2013

Metzena Rose Carter was born on October 30, 1940 to the union of the late A. Lucille Crompton Bezenah Claypool and Metz Bezenah. Metzena attended Cass Technical High School in Detroit, Michigan. Metzena was united in holy matrimony with Gene in 1956 and to this union four children were born. Metzena and her family relocated to Seattle, Washington in 1969. Metzena's legacy is her zeal for life and spirit of generosity. She enjoyed listening to the same record repeatedly and her favorite artist was Anthony Hamilton. She had a great passion for the slot machine and horse racing. Metzena passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at the Virginia Mason Hospital after a four year battle with her kidney transplant. We are sad lose her but glad her suffering has ended. We look forward to reuniting with her again in heaven. She is preceded in death by her parents, ALucille Crompton Bezenah Claypool, Metz Bezenah, husband, Gene Carter and son, James Carter, sister, Carol Walker, great-grand son NiJaun Manning. She is survived by her son, Eli (Ruby), son, Tony Carter, daughter, Gloria (Tracy) Williams, Georgia; sister, Lucille (Keith) Hawkins of Detroit, Michigan; niece, Lameania (Kelvin) Bridges; nephews, James Walker (Charla), Sam Carter, grand-son, Carlos (Dominique) Manning; three great-great children, Niyekah, N'Vaughn and Zayaire Manning and a host of many other relatives and friends.
